Gears of War 4 will run at 30 frames per second in its single player modes, and 60 in its multiplayer modes, both at 1080p. The game uses Unreal Engine 4.[27] Similarly to Halo 5: Guardians,[28] the game will employ a dynamic scaling system to maintain a consistent frame rate, under which the resolution will be automatically decreased and upscaled back to 1080p during more intensive scenes. Ferguson stated that the Xbox One S had an improved CPU and GPU which would be capable of more consistent resolution on Gears of War 4.[29] During its E3 2016 press conference, Microsoft announced that Gears of War 4 would be released on PC exclusively for Windows 10 Windows Store. It will be an Xbox Play Anywhere game, with digital cross-buys and cross-platform multiplayer available between Windows 10 and Xbox versions.[30] In August 2016, Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi confirmed he would be involved as the main creator of Gear of War 4's soundtrack.[31] In an interview, Djawadi spoke about the sound of the score, "Obviously, I want to make it very different to Game of Thrones. "Whenever I approach a new project, I want to make sure I'm setting up a new sound - even though we're still using a lot of orchestra and percussion."[32]
As for this classic first run of the series that WAS thoughtfully ported to the PC, it is great and one that you can play over and over and over. It's discontinued now so if you haven't snapped one up for your collection yet I'd do it soon before they are all gone. Even almost 5 years later and after it has been discontinued this game has never dropped off in price due to it's popularity.
Gameplay-wise, the environment matters much more now — you'll be able to destroy and create cover, and will have to worry about dangerous "windflares" that will affect how your weapons and enemies behave. There are also a bunch of new close-quarter combat options, including the ability to yank your opponent out of cover or stun them with a vault-kick, leaving them vulnerable to a nasty execution. And it wouldn't be a new Gears without new weapons, from the death-from-above Dropshot to the ricochet-blade-launching Buzzkill.
On March 21, 2007, it was announced that New Line Cinema had purchased the rights to make a Gears of War film, with Stuart Beattie writing the script along with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who will be producing it.[39] Producer Wyck Godfrey said of the film adaptation, "I'm not a gamer, but what blew me away about Gears was how it captures the mythology of a war mission and how high the stakes are."[40] On August 3, 2007, AICN.com reported that Len Wiseman was to direct the movie adaptation of Gears of War,[41] though on March 30, 2007, Godfrey stated that they have "a director we're about to attach" in order to film the movie during 2009 and release in 2010. Cliff Bleszinski, the lead designer of the Gears of War video games, will serve as executive producer and consultant.[42]
If you have an AMD or NVIDIA graphics card, you'll also need to update your drivers before you can play Gears of War 4. This can be done automatically by opening the AMD Gaming Evolved app if you have an AMD graphics card, or the GeForce Experience app if you have an NVIDIA graphics card. You can also download the drivers manually from the manufacturer’s website:
Horde Mode: Horde is of course wave defense, you and up to four friends can play this mode. In Horde you use in game currency to upgrade defenses and get ammo/weapon drops. Every tenth wave you'll encounter a challenging boss. For example: Brumaks or Beserkers. Horde is tons of fun to play with your friends and it's VERY challenging to make it through all 50 waves.

The multiplayer components of the game are being co-developed by Splash Damage, who also developed the multiplayer components of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition[22] A multiplayer beta was released on April 25, 2016; those who purchased Ultimate Edition received early access to the beta beginning on April 18, 2016.[23] The campaign will support local and online co-op with two players.[24] Gears of War 4 was the first game to make use of SGX developed by Speech Graphics to automatically animate gameplay dialogue.[25] Speaking about the future of the game, and the Gears of War series itself, Fergusson stated that "one of the things that's nice about Microsoft's investment is that we know, unless this does horribly, we're probably going to do another one."[26]

The Outsiders were the new version of the Stranded group of GoW4. The significance of the Outsiders lies entirely on their connection to Kait’s back-story. Of course, some notable characters of the game such as JD Fenix and Kait Diaz herself are members of the Outsiders. However, you might need to remember that Kait’s parents led a group of Outsiders. Since we are going to witness Kait’s full story in Gears 5, it is essential to have that in the back of our minds.
Thanks to its new cast and storyline, Gears of War 4 makes an excellent entry point for new fans — there's even a playable prologue that highlights the series' past. Gears of War started off as a game called "Unreal Warfare" and was to be the next Epic Games-developed Unreal game after Unreal Tournament was released.[1] It was to be a large multiplayer game set in the Unreal universe. Problems during its development caused the team to delay it and instead release an Epic-modified version of the Digital Extremes-developed Xbox game Unreal Championship, which is called Unreal Tournament 2003.[2] After UT2k3 was shipped, early development on Unreal Engine 3 began. The development team decided to move Unreal Warfare to Unreal Engine 3 and placed what they had finished with the Unreal Engine 2 in Unreal Tournament 2004, which became the Onslaught game mode in UT2k4.[1][3] During the transition, the team decided to split "Unreal Warfare" from the Unreal series because of how different it was from the established Unreal universe. It was then that Unreal Warfare began to evolve into Gears of War.

The story is great, the characters are good, the gameplay is incredible, and the graphics are good!! Don't expect a look at online multiplayer on my Xbox 360 reviews, because I'm not going to get Xbox Live, and I hate online multiplayer, anyway. However, there are some minor bad things about Gears of War, which are the annoyingly dumb teammates (especially Dom) and the extremely frustrating 'kryll' enemies, which eat you alive if you don't stay in light, in act 2. The history of online games dates back to the early days of packet-based computer networking in the 1970s,[4] An early example of online games are MUDs, including the first, MUD1, which was created in 1978 and originally confined to an internal network before becoming connected to ARPANet in 1980.[10] Commercial games followed in the next decade, with Islands of Kesmai, the first commercial online role-playing game, debuting in 1984,[10] as well as more graphical games, such as the MSX LINKS action games in 1986,[11] the flight simulator Air Warrior in 1987, and the Famicom Modem's online Go game in 1987.[12] The rapid availability of the Internet in the 1990s led to an expansion of online games, with notable titles including Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds (1996), Quakeworld (1996), Ultima Online (1997), Lineage (1998), Starcraft (1998), Counter-Strike (1999) and EverQuest (1999). Video game consoles also began to receive online networking features, such as the Famicom Modem (1987), Sega Meganet (1990), Satellaview (1995), SegaNet (1996), PlayStation 2 (2000) and Xbox (2001).[3][13] Following improvements in connection speeds,[5] more recent developments include the popularization of new genres, such as social games, and new platforms, such as mobile games.[14][better source needed]

In a break from previous games, the game's official title is "Gears 5," dropping the "of War" part of the title. This was a change that Rod Fergusson was pushing for, as using "of War" in conjunction with titles such as Gears Pop! and Gears Tactics felt cumbersome. He noted that "Gears X" was already common shorthand to describe the numbered installments of the series.[7] Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg clarified that the series itself still retains the name "Gears of War," though actual installments will simply use the "Gears" title.[6]

Determined to save her mother, Kait demands that Marcus lead them to her. He takes the group to Tollen Dam, where they discover that the burial site has been converted into a Swarm hive. Realizing that the hive's defenses are too formidable for them to breach on their own, the group fights their way to a radio antenna, where Marcus calls for the assistance of Augustus Cole (Lester Speight), Damon Baird (Fred Tatasciore) and Samantha Byrne (Claudia Black), with the latter two now being lovers. Baird, now a famed industrialist and the creator of the DeeBees, brings a pair of mech suits that J.D. and Kait use to fight their way into the hive.[7] Inside, they find Reyna has been forcefully integrated into the hive's network, and removing her would result in her death. Despite this, Reyna requests that Kait end her life, which she tearfully does. She then inherits her mother's amulet, which had belonged to Kait's grandmother. However, upon closer inspection, it bears a resemblance to the symbol of the Locust Queen Myrrah - implying that Reyna was her daughter and Kait is her granddaughter.
Gears of War was developed by Epic Games. Cliff Bleszinski, who has previously worked on Epic’s Unreal Tournament games, served the series’ lead game designer for the first three installments. He was inspired by gameplay elements from Resident Evil 4, Kill Switch, and Bionic Commando.[4] The series was also guided by Rod Fergusson, the executive producer and director of development of Epic Games until 2012.[5][6] The first four installments of the Gears of War series used a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3 engine.[7][8] On January 27, 2014, Microsoft acquired all rights to the franchise from Epic Games. Canadian studio The Coalition developed Gears of War 4, which was released on October 11, 2016 for the Xbox One and Windows 10.[9]
