But what of the biggest of big guns, Gears 5 itself? The next chapter, also due to arrive in 2019, brings back fan-favourite character Kait Diaz, promoting her to the main protagonist. Kait first appeared in 2016's Gears of War 4, where she was an important supporting character, helping JD Fenix. Players at the time may never have realised how important Kait was, though.

Microsoft announced Gears of War 4 at E3 2015 on June 15. The game takes place 25 years after the original Gears of War trilogy and primarily concentrates on Marcus’ son, JD Fenix.[13] The COG reestablish itself thanks to creation of robotic soldiers. Many civilians instead choose to live on the outskirts of the COG’s walled cities. JD, accompanied by his friends Kait and Del conduct frequent raids on COG fortifications to acquire various supplies. The three successfully fend off a COG counter attack only to have their encampment devastated by a new foe, called the Swarm. Kait’s mother, Reyna, is captured during the chaos.[13]

Speaking as someone who completely missed the boat, and had the misfortune of watching himself get chainsawed repeatedly by a Golden Lancer, it’s cool that Epic Games is finally offering gamers another chance to decorate their character with the latest in bling-covered firearms. There may never be another chance to secure these golden guns, so be sure that you log at least one online match in before September 26th — or be filled with regret for the majority of your life. The choice is up to you.
Gameplay-wise, the environment matters much more now — you'll be able to destroy and create cover, and will have to worry about dangerous "windflares" that will affect how your weapons and enemies behave. There are also a bunch of new close-quarter combat options, including the ability to yank your opponent out of cover or stun them with a vault-kick, leaving them vulnerable to a nasty execution. And it wouldn't be a new Gears without new weapons, from the death-from-above Dropshot to the ricochet-blade-launching Buzzkill.

Act 1: Ashes - As the game opens 14 years after Emergence Day, former soldier Marcus Fenix is freed from the Jacinto Maximum Security Prison by his close friend, Dominic Santiago, who needs Fenix's help in the fight against the Locust. Both manage to escape the prison moments before it is destroyed by a Corpser, and then meet up with the other members of Delta Squad, Anthony Carmine and Minh Young Kim. They receive orders to find Alpha Squad and secure possession of the "Resonator", a device intended to map out the Locust underground tunnel network for the Lightmass Bomb. En route to Alpha's last known location, Carmine is killed by a Locust sniper. Marcus, Dom, and Kim are able to meet up with a private from Alpha Squad, Augustus Cole, who says the rest of Alpha are at the Tomb of the Unknowns and that transmissions have been blocked by Seeders. Marcus then eliminates the Seeders using the Hammer of Dawn. After finding three more privates from Alpha, Damon Baird, Gyules, and an unknown Gear, they are ambushed by Locust Forces. Kim is separated from the others and is killed by General RAAM. While retreating into the Tomb, the unknown Gear is killed while providing cover fire. After Marcus defeats a Locust Berserker, which kills Gyules, the team confirms with headquarters that the Resonator is safe, and are then ordered to the Lethia Imulsion Facility, ten kilometers from their position. Marcus is also put in charge of Delta Squad in place of Kim.
This is a great game. The acting and story sucks though. I wasn't impressed at all besides the graphics and the chainsaw. Oh yea and This is a great game. The acting and story sucks though. Gears of War: Judgment is the fourth installment of the Gears of War series released on March 19, 2013.[22] It was first announced on May 31, 2012 and was revealed at E3 on June 4, 2012. At the conference they showed off the first trailer, mainly focused on series mainstay Baird. He is accompanied by Augustus "Cole Train" Cole and two new characters, Garron Paduk and Sofia Hendrik,[23] who make up Kilo Squad. Kilo Squad is ultimately put on trial by another new character, Ezra Loomis.[23]

I only made it through about the first hour of the original on 360. It was a good game, but at the time, I had a lot going on in school and just didn't devote any time to it. I decided I'd give this version a shot after seeing the upgraded visuals. I'm liking it a lot so far. I'm a little over half way done with the story and it's been a great game so far. The shooting and cover system is very satisfying. Once I finish this one, I want to play GoW2 now that it's backwards compatible. This is an older game but it holds up.
Multiplayer is also just ok. The Horde mode has changed considerably, and it's absolutely no fun playing by yourself now. I do wish they'd have allowed the inclusion of 'Bots' into that mode. Also, in Deathmatch, it's too bad you could not individually configure each bot with the hardness level. Now its all the same. GOW 2 allowed individual configurable bots on each team, and it added lots of depth to the game.

After the main story has been completed however, the focus will then shift to Gears of War 3‘s online multiplayer component, and if the Gears 3 beta was any indication, then gamers everywhere are in for an absolute treat. Hardcore fans of the franchise may remember that in Gears of War 2 there were a couple of exclusive weapons that were highly sought after by many members in the community. The weapons are none other than the Golden Lancer and Golden Hammerburst — two skins which are otherwise unobtainable in-game.

"It's about making the Gears of War franchise more approachable," says Rod Fergusson, studio head at The Coalition. "As a creator, you're like, 'What are the things that are preventing people from gaining access to that world?' One of the things that is pretty obvious is platform – it's one of those things where there are gamers out there who might actually love Gears of War but they don't play on console."

Why not share all of the facts here tc? There's a lot to this you're not even mentioning. You keep talking about this passionate Gears community as if they're not partially to blame here. In Gears 3, there are a lot of skins you can unlock. People could either download a save editor or a modded save and get access to all of the skins. That's the community you're defending here. They don't want thieves stealing their stuff again.
In Gears of War 2, Myrrah, the Locust leader, regroups her remaining forces and organizes a counteroffensive. The crux of her plan revolves around using a giant worm-like creature to sink the cities around the Jacinto Plateau until the COG stronghold itself collapses. The COG Forces in-turn deploy several soldiers directly into the depths of Sera to directly battle the Locust Horde and stop Myrrah’s plan. Marcus discovers that members of the Locust Horde are mutating from exposure from Imulsion into ‘Lambent’. These abominations are forcing the Locust to abandon their underground civilization to try claim the surface world as their new home. Marcus devises a plan to intentionally sink Jacinto and using the surrounding sea water to flood the Locust and Lambent tunnel network. The COG evacuate Jacinto just as the city collapses and drowns a majority of the Locust Horde.
