Treyarch released the "First Strike" Map Pack on February 1, 2011 for the Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 received the map pack on March 3, 2011 and the PC version was released on March 25, 2011 through Steam.[82] The Map Pack includes additional maps that can be played in the Multiplayer. These maps include "Berlin Wall", "Discovery", "Kowloon" and "Stadium" and a map for the Zombies mode titled "Ascension" which takes place in a Soviet launch site.[83]
This game surprised me as I was not expecting the time in history that this pertains to.....the decade of the '60's, a very tumultuous decade at that. Mostly to do with the Cold War between USSR and USA......and even touching on the end of WWII.....a nice touch. So the pace of the game, in conjunction with the weapons of that time, I found to my liking. It didn't have the faster pace of recent COD's and the firepower wasn't nearly as overwhelming. One has a bit more time for thinking and contemplating different strategies. For me that was a definite plus. At any rate, a nice playing experience. I'm tempted to now try Black Ops II.

In another map, the attackers start in the water during the D-Day invasion. The defenders occupy two machine-gun filled bunkers on a cliff. The attackers have to first take both bunkers (after getting past deadly machine-gun fire) then push forward and destroy a bunch of radio equipment, and finally make their way up to two heavy artillery positions where they have to plant and detonate three charges on each big gun.

Some time in 1963, the United States government manages to grab hold of several of Group 935's inventions, keeping them hidden in the Pentagon. Due to the presence of the undead-raising Element 115, zombies breach the Pentagon. John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara, and Fidel Castro are trapped within the Pentagon, forced to fight their way out. Meanwhile, Richtofen's crew arrive at a Soviet Cosmodrome site, where Richtofen intends to travel to Group 935's moon base, Griffin Station. The crew is contacted by Gersh, a member of the Ascension Group who requests to be freed from Samantha's grip. After freeing Gersh, the four of them are teleported further in time, and arrive at a Siberian lighthouse sometime in 2011, once used by Richtofen as a secret lab. However, they are trapped within a locked room, and forced to rely on four movie actors: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Danny Trejo, Robert Englund, and Michael Rooker, who are filming a zombie movie on-site along with director George A. Romero, who had been infected as well. Richtofen requests the four celebrities to find a golden rod, which is a Vril generator device, which he then uses to fix the teleporter. He transports himself and the other three soldiers back to Shangri-La, leaving the celebrities behind to continue fighting Romero and the horde. At Shangri-La, the group discovers two explorers, Gary and Brock, who died trapped within a time loop while trying to discover the secrets of the mythical Agartha realm. The group saves the explorers' lives by traveling back and forth in time, altering the environments of the temple in the process. They discover an altar within the temple with Richtofen's name written on it, as well as a piece of a meteorite containing Element 115. However, the explorers remain stuck in the never-ending loop.
Similarly to Modern Warfare 2's marketing, the first full-length trailer of Black Ops was aired after the 3rd quarter on ESPN during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals on May 18, 2010.[69] During E3 2010, studio head Mark Lamia opened the Microsoft conference by playing Black Ops on stage.[70] It was also announced that the timed Xbox 360 exclusivity for additional content of Call of Duty titles, which began with Modern Warfare 2, extends until 2012.[71] A remixed version of the ESPN trailer with Eminem's "Won't Back Down" was released on June 14,[72] prior to the E3 Activision conference for which he also performed.[73] A multiplayer teaser trailer was released on August 9, 2010 revealing killstreaks, weapons, and other in-game multiplayer features. A full multiplayer reveal took place on September 1, 2010, and revealed many multiplayer features from the game.[74]

The Call of Duty games were used in eSports, starting in 2006, alongside the game released at the time, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.[58] Over the years, the series has extended with releases such as Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. Games are played in leagues like Major League Gaming.
Limited Ammunition and Healing. NO MORE SELF HEALING! ... kind of. I guess the current system has a sort of self-healing if you're above 50 HP, but if you're below that you'll need a patch up from a medical pack. You can only carry one (Medics have infinite) and the design feels pretty balanced. May need a tweak here or there, but I like that healing is now a decision you have to make in the heat of battle rather than a magical restoration after a few seconds.
Battlefield 4 is a seminal moment for the Battlefield series as more award-winning multiplayer game design elements are incorporated into the single-player campaign. In single-player, gamers will experience huge environments, a playground of destruction, access to an arsenal of vehicles and the ability to direct their squad mates. Taking a page from the social aspect of multiplayer gaming, the single-player mode will now track players’ progress via leaderboards, adding an element of persistence and friendly competition to the campaign.
Squads introduces a whole new level of competition to Call of Duty. We've taken the best parts of the Multiplayer experience and combined that with a vastly improved AI and our new mechanic of creating your own squad-mates. All the hard work you've put into customizing, playing, and prestiging your squad can now be put to use on a brand new playing field.
The theme of black operations is a popular genre within fictional literature and Hollywood films. Both the spy film and spy fiction genres have had a significant following for many decades including such films as Apocalypse Now and Zero Dark Thirty and such authors as John Le Carre and Tom Clancy. These “black operations” have also been a key point in video games. One such example is Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops, set in the early 1960s, where the player performs black operations such as trying to assassinate Fidel Castro and to eliminate the three antagonists.
Anchoring this first content pack is Episode 1: Nightfall, the first installment in Extinction's four-part episodic narrative. At a remote facility in the Alaskan wilderness, the shadowy Nightfall Program has been researching the origins of the "Alien" threat. When the scientists lose control, a small team of elite soldiers must retrieve the intel and exterminate hordes of savage creatures.
No one soldier or nation single-handedly won the war. For the first time, Call of Duty® captures the war from multiple perspectives, through the eyes of American, British and Russian soldiers. Battle through 24 missions spanning 4 interconnected historical campaigns. Take on mission objectives ranging from sabotage and all-out assault to stealth, vehicle combat and rescue. Authentic weapons, locations, vehicles and sounds of war all contribute to the realism, immersing you in the most intense World War II experience yet.

Lore, while there is no campaign there is lore of the black ops series. With Specialist HQ a mode where you can test at all the new specialist and even see their own video. At first glance it looks Tom Clancy's Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4. But there is a hidden story that ties to the events of Black Ops 1&2. Call of Duty has a lot of Lore fans and this is a welcome addition that ties in the Black Ops universe with the Multiplayer and Blackout. Better than Blacks Ops 3 train go boom campaign.
In September 2004, an expansion pack called Call of Duty: United Offensive, which was produced by Activision and developed by Gray Matter Interactive and Pi Studios, was released. An enhanced port of Call of Duty for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, titled Call of Duty Classic, was released worldwide in November 2009 with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, being available via redemption codes included with the "Hardened" and "Prestige" editions of the game.[3]

In 2010, a sequel to Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, was released, involving "B" Company's search for an EMP weapon. It features a larger multiplayer than its predecessor Bad Company, with updated graphics and realistic effects (e.g. bullet-drop). The game introduced the rush game mode and brought in weapons. It features a "VIP" system of content distribution where player with VIP codes gain early access to new maps. I've been a Battlefield veteran for a little under 10 years now, and Battlefield V is by far my favorite title in the series so far. II've been a Battlefield veteran for a little under 10 years now, and Battlefield V is by far my favorite title in the series so far. I canceled my pre-order after the beta, but I decided to give it another shot as I love the series. DICE really took the constructive criticisms to heart. There are NO microtransactions in the game at launch, and when they arrive, they will be cosmetic only and no random boxes. All future content is free. The gunplay is comparable to BF3, which many people consider to have the best gunplay in the entire series. The character customization, while lacking an actual character creator, is in-depth enough for people who are into it yet not so in-depth that those who don't enjoy that aspect of a game won't find it tedious and distracting. The gameplay itself is fast paced and has a sense of urgency that I feel was missing from Battlefield 1. The weapon progression is fantastic, and the idea to have the starter weapons full upgraded on start prevents new players from being run over by veteran players (something that occurred in Battlefront 2). I was skeptical when I played the beta, like I'm sure many of you were, but rest assured, the final product is by far worth the money and a fantastic addition to the series. They took the better parts of the previous games, specifically regarding players' feedback, and created, in my personal opinion, one of the best FPS games in that last decade. If you are a fan of previous Battlefields and took a break due to the change BF1 saw in the series, I implore you to give Battlefield V a chance.… Expand
Call of Duty: Black Ops takes place between 1961 and 1968 during the Cold War, 20 years after the events of World at War. It portrays a secret history of CIA clandestine black operations carried out behind enemy lines. Missions take place in various locations around the globe such as the Ural Mountains, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Hong Kong, Laos, South Vietnam, the Arctic circle and Siberia. The single-player campaign revolves around an experimental chemical weapon codenamed "Nova-6". This weapon is bound to be used by sleeper agents in the United States, who are infused with sequences of numbers, once broadcasts are transmitted from an unknown numbers station.

On November 5, 2010, EASY Studios announced a follow-up to its free-to-play Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free. EASY develops the free-to-play variants of Battlefield. Its latest offering gives players the same free-to-play pricing structure of Heroes, while still offering a more serious, core Battlefield experience (as opposed to Heroes' lighthearted, cartoon-styled environment).[42] Battlefield Play4Free went into open beta on April 4, 2011.[43]

Set in the 1960s during the Cold War, the game's campaign follows CIA operative Alex Mason as he attempts to recall certain memories in combat in order to locate a numbers station. This station is due to transmit broadcasts to sleeper agents who are bound to use chemical weapons across the United States. Mason and CIA operative Jason Hudson are the game's main playable characters, as well as Red Army soldier Viktor Reznov in only one mission. Locations featured in the game include Cuba, Russia, United States, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Laos, Vietnam, and the Arctic Circle. The multiplayer of Black Ops features multiple objective-based game modes that are playable on 14 different maps included with the game. Improvements to loadout options and killstreak rewards are made. A form of virtual currency, COD Points, allows players to purchase weapons and customization options for their in-game character, as well as attachments and customization options for their weapon.
Extinction’s fast-paced survival combat features a series of intense base-defense scenarios, where your overall objective is to destroy the alien threat with the help of a nuclear device. Team members must work together to hold off waves of alien attackers until each alien “hive” can be neutralized. No two games are the same  as the moment-to-moment upgrade decisions can dictate the strategies of the team.
Call of Duty: WWII is the fourteenth game in the series and was developed by Sledgehammer Games.[6] It was released worldwide on November 3, 2017, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.[7] The game is set in the European theatre, and is centered around a squad in the 1st Infantry Division, following their battles on the Western Front, and set mainly in the historical events of Operation Overlord.
The mode has squads of four trying to hunt down each other and complete objectives to be the last standing on a map shrinking as it’s consumed by a ring of fire (not going to ask what Nazi superweapon has supposedly created that). But the mode is limited to 64 players when Blackout has now been pushed to 88 and Fortnite is always at 100. And 64 players is not exactly a new prospect for the Battlefield series, which has been doing the big team thing for a while now. There also does not appear to be a solos or duos option for Firestorm, at least at launch, which is a significant departure from other BRs where that’s standard. This is in contrast to Call of Duty where Blackout plays wildly different from traditional multiplayer, in playercount, map size, vehicle use, everything.
Co-chairman General James L. Jones is a former U.S. National Security Advisor.[66] Founder Robert Kotick is the CEO of Activision Blizzard.
