Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the next title in Activision’s illustrious FPS series. It is set between the events of Black Ops 2 and 3, but marks a huge departure for Call of Duty in that it’s the first entry to not feature a traditional campaign. In its place is a battle royale mode called Blackout, which joins the core multiplayer and zombies mode to make it the most multiplayer-focused COD yet.
No one soldier or nation single-handedly won the war. For the first time, Call of Duty® captures the war from multiple perspectives, through the eyes of American, British and Russian soldiers. Battlefield 4 is a seminal moment for the Battlefield series as more award-winning multiplayer game design elements are incorporated into the single-player campaign. In single-player, gamers will experience huge environments, a playground of destruction, access to an arsenal of vehicles and the ability to direct their squad mates. Taking a page from the social aspect of multiplayer gaming, the single-player mode will now track players’ progress via leaderboards, adding an element of persistence and friendly competition to the campaign.
The game runs on an enhanced World at War engine (which itself was improved from Call of Duty 4's) at 60 frames per second across all platforms, excluding the Wii. It features a streaming texture technology (also seen in Modern Warfare 2), making bigger levels possible such as "Payback" where the player controls a helicopter. Lighting effects have been improved as well. Call of Duty: Black Ops supports 3-D imaging rendered by the engine itself. This feature is available on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions.
Black Ops 4 has arrived and has everyone buzzing about Blackout, its new battle royale mode, which is one of the best in the (admittedly rather small) genre, if not the best now depending on who you ask. If this was just a standard Call of Duty release year I don’t think Battlefield V would be in quite so much trouble, but the fact that Black Ops is a hit, it just seems like BFV has a long, uphill climb ahead of it.
People won't like what I'm going to say, but I like the limited ammunition. It means you need to think before you blindly go on a 1 person death spree. It's really a team game now and you've got to think before going commando. Vehicles. I haven't personally flown or driven anything yet other than the little tank-bike to get from point to point, but tanks feel remarkably less threatening than BF1. In a way, I find this to be a good thing as a tank sitting on a point with 3-4 players with anti-tank weapons can make short work of it, but perhaps they could get a little armor boost (imho). Airplanes are airplanes. If they drop bombs on you, you're SOL. I can't attest to air combat, but when I hear planes in the air, I haven't had too much experience getting erased by them when we have friendly planes in the sky.
With the Vril generator and the meteorite piece, Richtofen now believes he can control the zombies, and returns to Griffin Station. Here, they attempt to activate the MPD, a machine that controls the Aether energy, which opens to reveal Samantha inside; instead of dying by Richtofen's trap, Samantha was teleported to the moon while Maxis was sent somewhere else. Samantha accidentally triggered the MPD and was trapped within the device, but this also allowed her to enter the Aether realm. Maxis, who was retrieved by Group 935 scientists, apologized to his daughter and committed suicide in front of her, prompting her to assume control of the zombies and seek vengeance on Richtofen. Richtofen fuses the golden rod and the meteorite piece, and using it to switch souls with Samantha, takes over as the new zombie controller. This causes his former allies to feel betrayed, and they ally themselves with Samantha (who now resides in Richtofen's body). Maxis is revealed to have become a sentient artificial intelligence living within the systems of Griffin Station, and he guides his daughter and the three soldiers to launch three missiles at the Earth. This severs Richtofen's link with the Aether, but the launch results in the catastrophic destruction of the Earth, while still leaving Richtofen in control of the undead.
I've had this game for about 3 months now and love it. I was a huge COD fan but their futuristic war games are incredibly annoying, so I took a chance on Battlefield 1 and it has been a nice change as it's a more realistic shooting game without retards bouncing off walls, jetpacking, spraying and praying, etc. There are a few annoying things coming from the COD series like: You cant modify your classes outside of a game, the load times are horrendous, the battlepacks are insanely retarded as they are only skins for guns which are worthless, etc. Besides these few annoyances, this game is great. I will definitely be sticking to the Battlefield series unless the COD series gets their head out of the sand.
Secondarily, those complaining about it taking a long time for weapons to kill somebody obviously don't know what they are doing. I feel they are complaining primarily because of the MP trench gun which is the default gun on the assault class. This gun is intended to be used by getting very close to somebody and spraying them with it. It is not an accurate weapon nor was it back in WW1. Use corners and cover in order to move close on opponents and you shouldn't have an issue with the guns if you use them to their strengths. Either that or they are trying to take out enemies at a distance using iron sights and are too use to their high tech red dot sights. There are optical gun classes that allow having a more conventional sight picture if that's your style.
A currency system has been implemented allowing players to buy weapons, accessories and clothes. Players can gamble with their "COD Points" in a free-for-all based playlist called "Wager Match", which is composed of four game modes. Time limited objectives known as "Contracts" can be purchased to gain more currency and experience points. The progression system is not featured in local split-screen multiplayer. In local split-screen play, all character customization options are already unlocked. Players can no longer define game rules such as win conditions.
Call of Duty: Combined Forces was a proposed concept draft originally intended to be a sequel to Call of Duty: Finest Hour. However, due to multiple legal issues that arose between Spark Unlimited, Electronic Arts, and Activision as well as other production problems, the game's draft and scripts never came to be. The game was projected to cost $10.5 million to produce after Finest Hour was complete. Eventually Activision deemed the pitch as more of an expansion than something entirely new, causing the company to reject the proposal and end their contract with Spark Unlimited shortly after.

A sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, was released on November 13, 2012 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The Wii U version was released on November 18, 2012. A new entry in the series called Call of Duty: Ghosts was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 on November 5, 2013. Ghosts is the first Call of Duty game available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as launch titles for both consoles on November 15, 2013 and November 22, 2013 respectively. Black Market, I will like to preface and say it’s better than the supply drops system of the call of duties of before (looking at you especially Black Ops 3) but the system still sucks. Everything is either overpriced or a long grind to live up this is nothing like the fortnite system they tired to copy it’s worse. They clearly incentivise to purchase more call of duty points and while that was in all honest expected at least put all the good stuff up front ready to purchase not I have to grind to reach tier 50 or something or I can spend 100 dollars to unlock everything I want. Guns aren’t subject to this yet. But as the history of Call of Duty tells us they will absolutely do it. They are already selling pre-order gun variants as dlc Terrible, Greedy, and inefficient.
Another area the development team focused on was their artificial intelligence (AI) pathfinding component dubbed "Conduit". The ability to suppress the enemy with cover fire and clear obstacles, such as fences and windows, was tightly integrated into the squad-based aspect of the single-player campaigns. The AI in the game was designed to flank the opponent, bank grenades, and move from one cover point to another. Lead animation director Michael Boon explained that actions which would have normally been scripted in past games were moved to a dynamic AI environment, in order to help create a different experience each time levels are replayed. While the campaigns were the primary focus, development of the multiplayer modes were tailored to please modders. Zied Rieke, a lead designer, clarified that gameplay and modes were written in script making it "extremely easy for players to make their own modifications to Call of Duty multiplayer".
