Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the fourth installment of the main series, and was developed by Infinity Ward. It is the first game in the series not to be set during World War II, but set in the modern day. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on November 7, 2007. Download and retail versions for Mac OS X were released by Aspyr in September 2008. As of May 2009, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has sold over 13 million copies.[8]

Matches won’t all be PvP, you’ll also be fighting AI zombies. Zombies spawn at a handful of pre-selected destinations, occasionally alongside a Mystery Box that contains rare items, which you can spot from a beam of blue light. Hesh and Logan Walker trained their entire lives under the watchful and demanding eye of their battle hardened father, Elias Walker. Their innate abilities as marksman and hunters gave them a particular advantage growing up. Their father had hoped that these traits would help both of his sons maintain their self-reliance should things get rough. Ten years after the Odin event, Lt. they serve together on a recon team based out of Fort Santa Monica, tasked with defending and patrolling the California front. Both were grounded by Elias’ subtle training – core to which is that Hesh and his younger brother Logan must always look out for each other.
During World War II, Doctor Ludvig Maxis formed Group 935, a group of scientists that was intended to improve the human condition. Lacking funds, they soon turned to creating superweapons to aid the Nazis. Their discovery of Element 115 from a meteorite in Japan lead to the creation of zombies. Maxis and his assistant, Dr. Edward Richtofen, also work on other projects, leading to the creation of teleportation devices and 115-powered weapons. Attempting to use himself as a test subject, Richtofen accidentally teleports to a catacomb within the Moon, where he comes into contact with a mysterious pyramid device that causes him to hear mysterious voices, slowly taking away his sanity. He is later teleported to an exotic jungle known as Shangri-La, where he spends three weeks studying the Vril energy force. Upon returning to Germany, Richtofen secretly forms a plan to kill Maxis, and gathers many members of Group 935 to build a moon base, known as Griffin Station. While maintaining his cover with Maxis and the rest of Group 935, Richtofen manages to capture three soldiers: Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, and Takeo Masaki; he begins to conduct experiments with Element 115, causing memory loss for all three soldiers.
The game introduced a new take on AI-controlled allies who support the player during missions and react to situational changes during gameplay. This led to a greater emphasis on squad-based play as opposed to the "lone wolf" approach often portrayed in earlier first-person shooter games. Much of Infinity Ward's development team consisted of members who helped develop Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Limited Ammunition and Healing. NO MORE SELF HEALING! ... kind of. I guess the current system has a sort of self-healing if you're above 50 HP, but if you're below that you'll need a patch up from a medical pack. You can only carry one (Medics have infinite) and the design feels pretty balanced. May need a tweak here or there, but I like that healing is now a decision you have to make in the heat of battle rather than a magical restoration after a few seconds.
Blackout will also have a huge selection of iconic weapons for you to play with. Weapons handle differently in Blackout than they do in multiplayer because of the massively increased map size and bullet ballistics, so make sure you read our Blackout weapons guide to find out why the Spitfire is the best early game gun and why the Koshka is the sniper rifles to look out for.

Zombies, Treyarch’s Zombies return the original studio to do zombies back at world at war 10 years ago and they never stop being the best call of duty zombies developers. Some people might only be interested in the Zombies mode. We get the returning Aether Story and a brand new story and characters the biggest zombies launch with three maps. Four with the Black Ops Pass. It’s not for everyone solo players might have trouble with the learning curve of all the mechanics and solving the easter eggs. But if you have a buddy or two you can’t go wrong with Zombies. I had an absolute blast playing with my friends and solving the easter eggs. Treyarch has the best zombies hands down Black Ops 4 is no exception.

No Campaign, some brave soul actually did it and decided that hey we don’t need a campaign. While it must be disappointing for all 3 people who play the campaign. I must applaud them as Black Ops 3 had the worse campaign of any Call of Duty game ever. In my circle of friends and associates I was the only one who ended up beating it. Not Good. So doing what needs to be done and axing the campaign is a positive in my book as it gets them to focus on.
CREATE-A-SOLDIER. In Call of Duty®: Ghosts you don't just create a class, you create a soldier. Choose the head, body type, head-gear and equipment, and you can even create a female soldier for the first time. With over 20,000 possible combinations, you can create the soldier you've always wanted. And each soldier you create will also have his or her own load outs.
Zombies will also include a new arcade mode called Rush, it’s the same co-operative structure but leans more on friendly competition. The more undead you kill the more points you earn – a leaderboard keeps track of everybody’s score so you know who’s in the lead. The inspiration for Rush comes from Grief mode back in Black Ops 2, this arcade mode will be in the same spirit but have a more casual and friendly vibe.

I canceled my pre-order after the beta, but I decided to give it another shot as I love the series. DICE really took the constructive criticisms to heart. There are NO microtransactions in the game at launch, and when they arrive, they will be cosmetic only and no random boxes. All future content is free. The gunplay is comparable to BF3, which many people consider to have the best gunplay in the entire series. The character customization, while lacking an actual character creator, is in-depth enough for people who are into it yet not so in-depth that those who don't enjoy that aspect of a game won't find it tedious and distracting. The gameplay itself is fast paced and has a sense of urgency that I feel was missing from Battlefield 1. The weapon progression is fantastic, and the idea to have the starter weapons full upgraded on start prevents new players from being run over by veteran players (something that occurred in Battlefront 2). I was skeptical when I played the beta, like I'm sure many of you were, but rest assured, the final product is by far worth the money and a fantastic addition to the series. They took the better parts of the previous games, specifically regarding players' feedback, and created, in my personal opinion, one of the best FPS games in that last decade. And I like to imagine how much fun it would be had Treyarch included it in Black Ops 4. Imagine these multi-stage, objective-based Operations but playing out with Black Ops 4's various Specialists and their special abilities, plus the full gamut of modern arsenal. It'd be a match made in heaven, and certainly more fun and interesting than Blackout. Then again, I'd rather not have it replace Blackout entirely---after all, we don't have solo campaign in Black Ops 4. If anything, a Black Ops 4 War Mode should be included on top of everything else. What a great game that would have been.
Maps, they better than Call of Duty World War 2 but that’s a low bar. My main issue with the maps is there is a heavy reliance on the classic maps of Call of Duty black ops 1&2. There good maps but they could also try to make better maps or make there own classics. Even at the time of this review they released two new free maps Firing Range nighttime and Nuketown Russian edition. Of course the new maps are borders between okay and bad so the reliance of classic maps is a necessary evil of sorts. Still relying on past games can only get you so far.

People won't like what I'm going to say, but I like the limited ammunition. It means you need to think before you blindly go on a 1 person death spree. It's really a team game now and you've got to think before going commando. Supports can constantly top people off with ammunition, which is great, but 3 magazines of ammunition seems really fair at the moment. I can, however, fault the...

Battlefield doing a WWII game now may feel like the natural follow-up to Battlefield 1, but since Call of Duty did it last year and they effectively were doing historical combat two years ago, it doesn’t really feel as fresh as it once did, and even trying to echo the vignette campaign structure of BF1 has produced apparently mixed results, judging by some of the early previews where outlets got their hands on the game. Polygon called its frenetic shooter segments in the midst of somber storylines a “piñata at a funeral.”

This game surprised me as I was not expecting the time in history that this pertains to.....the decade of the '60's, a very tumultuous decade at that. Mostly to do with the Cold War between USSR and USA......and even touching on the end of WWII.....a nice touch. So the pace of the game, in conjunction with the weapons of that time, I found to my liking. It didn't have the faster pace of recent COD's and the firepower wasn't nearly as overwhelming. One has a bit more time for thinking and contemplating different strategies. For me that was a definite plus. At any rate, a nice playing experience. I'm tempted to now try Black Ops II.

A number of new gameplay additions make Black Ops 4 one of the most competitive entries into the series. Manual healing, for example, forces you to take a couple of seconds out of combat in order to heal up, adding an element of risk and some decision-making to what used to be a background process. Unlike in previous Call of Duty games, you almost never lower your gun in Black Ops 4, which smooths out the multiplayer experience even more by allowing you to mantle and use equipment while shooting.


This just seems like a particular “at risk” year for EA and Battlefield, given its steep competition. Granted that kind of happens every fall, but alternating Battlefield and Battlefront releases, this seems like it maybe should have been time for the latter just to stand out a little bit more, but that’s not how production schedules work. EA will always have FIFA and Madden and such to lean on, but I do think its shooter series are becoming less relevant as time goes on. Perhaps a game like Anthem will change that, but I don’t think Battlefield V will.

The player controls the protagonist, SAD/SOG special forces operative Cpt. Alex Mason (Sam Worthington). Occasionally, CIA paramilitary operations officer Jason Hudson (Ed Harris) and some other characters are playable to progress the story. Alex is often joined by fellow operatives Sgt. Blackout currently has 20 character skins available to play as, including the cast from Zombies and the Black Ops 4 specialists but to get access to their special abilities you’ll need to find them as rare items across the map. Other character skins are on the way and can be unlocked by completing missions. Blackout will feature limited time events with unlockable content, but it was confirmed in a Q&A with design director David Vonderhaar that this will not apply to getting new skins.

The American campaign begins with Private Martin, a newly enlisted member of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, completing basic training at Camp Toccoa in Georgia, United States, on August 10, 1942. Afterwards, the action shifts to June 6, 1944, with Martin forced to undertake a solo mission to establish a landing zone for soldiers participating in Operation Overlord. Under heavy fire, the paratroopers are scattered, leaving Martin in a mixed unit formed from various companies. The mission closes with Martin and his allies seizing a nearby town from German forces. In the second mission, Martin and his unit are sent to drive out the remaining Germans from Sainte-Mère-Église and disable several Flakpanzers (anti-aircraft tanks) as the events of June 6 begin (D-Day). A paratrooper is seen hanging from the town church. The third mission occurs later that morning, with U.S. forces fending off a German counterattack. The fourth mission has Martin, Pvt. Elder and Sgt. Moody driving from Sainte-Mère-Église to Sainte-Marie-du-Mont along highway N13 to deliver an important message, while fending off German assaults. The fifth mission, the Brécourt Manor Assault, occurs on the evening of June 6, with Martin's unit destroying German artillery positions attacking the landing force at Utah Beach. After the mission, Martin learns that his unit has been assigned to several secret missions. The first occurs in the sixth mission, with Martin participating in an attack on a secret German prison in the basement of a Bavarian manor to rescue two British officers, Captain Price and Major Ingram. He then learns from Price that Ingram had already been moved to a more secure POW camp for interrogation. Thus, the seventh mission has Martin, accompanied by Price, infiltrating the camp and rescuing Ingram in under ten minutes before the arrival of German reinforcements.
This game is a good shooter for multiple reasons. One reason is that it is pretty universal in terms of guns for the support, recon, medic, and assault. While it is not quite realistic to the time period based on the guns you use, it is not a ww1 simulator, its battlefield. It brought new game modes such as: Operations where you can play as defense which is defending the flags against the attackers who are trying to capture them. War Pigeons is where you get a pigeon, write a note (sort of like capturing a flag) and setting it free to gain a point out of three. And Fog of War which is Hardcore Team death match and normal team death match. The vehicles are improved, tour bullets can do damage to the planes (not much) and the dogfights seem better and more balanced. They added motorcycles with the seat on the side like in the movies. The artillary truck which has an AA gun on top of it and a Vickers Mk1 (the normal mounted machine gun in that game) and a new thing called Behemoths. If the enemy team is loosing in operations they will receive a behemoth on most maps you will get an Airship which is a blimp outfitted with powerful explosive round machine guns, and the pilot can drop bombs on top of it there are mounted machine guns (vickers mk1). On other maps where there is water you will receive a Dreadnought, this is a Cruiser with heavy hitting artillary and AA guns. The last behemoth is an Armourd train. This has the same guns as the Dreadnought but with added machine guns (for infantry). This is a fun game in all, but it is for the person who likes fast paced battlefield games, such as bf4 and bf3. So if you liked those games and hardline I would suggest getting this one.
Weapon Progression. It's small and this is a detractor for me. Where games like BF3 and BF4 had a wide variety of grips, sights, barrels, attachments etc that affected the overall potency of a weapon, in BFV, you can change the scope on a gun then the rest is in the progression system which isn't mix and match. Some follow very linear build patterns where if you choose one progression for a gun, you have to take the next one in the chain. Granted, this helps make it so certain weapon progression combinations don't make you God, but it detracts from what I really liked about BF3 and BF4 weapon customizations. Can I live with this system? Yeah. Do I want a little more variety? Absolutely.

I got this game originally when it came out, but the hardened edition which I sold, but I got this game again. Let's all come to terms with the truth. Call of Duty gets worse every year, it's the same garbage forced down our throats, and I refuse to ever buy one again. HOWEVER, the thing about Black Ops that sets it aside from Modern Crapfare series, is the addition of the Zombies mode. Zombies itself is worth buying this game for. If you have friends to play with, it never gets boring.
